The Premier League has, as always, been a thrilling spectacle, with the 2024 calendar year continuing to showcase the unpredictability of England’s top flight.

Who came out on top?

While Manchester City claimed the 2023/24 title and Liverpool have been the standout team so far this season, it is Arsenal who have finished out the year at top of the table with 85 points across 36 matches.

Mikel Arteta’s side has combined attacking flair with disciplined defending, scoring 89 goals and conceding just 25, showing themselves to be one of the most well-rounded teams in Europe.

Liverpool, in second, have also impressed, with Arne Slot seamlessly picking up from where Jurgen Klopp left off. His side has netted 92 goals this year, a sign of their attacking potency.

Reigning champions Man City looked unstoppable at the close of 2023/24, but have stumbled out of the gate in the new campaign, landing them in third for the calendar year.

Though their form has dipped, their 83 goals and solid defensive record (39 conceded) show they have been one of the most dangerous teams in 2024.

Successful year for Chelsea, Bournemouth and Fulham

Chelsea are fourth in the calendar year standings, reflecting a strong finish to Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure and an even better start under new head coach Enzo Maresca.

Further down the table, the consistency of Fulham and AFC Bournemouth has been a highlight, with both teams sitting above traditional heavyweights like Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United - once again illustrating the competitiveness of the Premier League.

Spurs, despite flashes of brilliance, have struggled with inconsistency, while Manchester United, are in 10th place with just 14 wins from 37 matches.

Who struggled in 2024?

At the bottom, the promoted sides have generally found life in the Premier League unforgiving, with Leicester City, Sheffield United (now relegated), Southampton and Ipswich Town stuck near the foot of the table.
